When Choosing Your Guide, without a doubt your guide should be one who is licensed and a hopefully local born guide. You want one who does this full time and knows where the fish are, or works very hard to find them. When fly-fishing for bone fish you want a guide that will pole the boat to get you a shot at the fish. Rather than stake out, chum up and wait for the fish to show. Your guide should be one who is not a part time guide. They are learning on your dime. You want a guide with experience and patience.
